How It Started

There are very few real life fairy tales, but we believe that phrase actually applies to us! When we were kids (as in, I was literally a toddler), our moms became dear friends when they went to night school to become nurses. Our families grew close... Aaron and my brother, Jay, spent hours playing video games together, and I idolized Mandy, Aaron's sister who is seven years his senior because she was that quintessential older, cooler nineties teenager.
Fast forward to 2016 when it was time for my mother to retire from that long nursing career. My siblings and I decided to throw a surprise party for her and invite everyone who'd ever been important to her. So naturally, we invited Aaron and his mom, even though we hadn't seen them in nearly twenty years.
And thus, destiny unfolded. Aaron and I "re-met" at the perfect time in our lives. The day after the party, once we realized we were both single, we started chatting. And we've been together ever since!
One of my favorite things about Aaron is his unique way of seeing the world. When everyone is following the crowd, he looks around for another path, determined to think for himself and find a better way forward. He doesn't claim that his way is always the right way, but he refuses to be blindly led. Over the last decade, he has rubbed off on me. More often than not, this way of thinking has helped me to climb over and around conundrums and challenges in ways I never would've imagined. And I've become a more resilient, thoughtful person because of him.
And so we land on now. On the realization of a dream we've been batting around in various forms and fashions for three years. On the moment when we decide to walk through that other door that we noticed when looking away from the crowd, when looking in a different direction from what we thought was expected of us.
We hope you enjoy the journey with us. And we hope to help you find the magic in your every day.
